Reporting Your Child’s Absence

If your child is too unwell to attend school, you must contact the school Attendance team via email or phone before 9am:

Please state clearly in the call or email:

Your child’s full name
Year group
Explain the reason for absence with as much detail as possible, we will not accept reasons such as ‘unwell’ or ‘too ill’ 
If we do not receive a reason for absence, a phone call home or Arbor message will be made and sent to parent /carers. This will still happen even if your child was absent due to previous days off, as we cannot assume that your child is unwell. 

If Parent / carers do not contact the school regarding absence, then a welfare check to the home address will be considered.

If regular non-contact of absence happens, a member of the safeguarding team will do a welfare check and the absence will be unauthorised. A fixed penalty notice will be issued or we will make a referral to the Suffolk County Council Education Welfare Team Attendance service. 

Please note that there are two sessions each day: morning (AM) and afternoon (PM) roll call. These two marks go towards a students attendance percentage.
